Gunner Plot Part 1
Nov. 27th, 2020 09:36 pmIt had taken a solid week, but eventually he got the software cracked and he was deep in the phone, looking to see what was being transmitted. For the most part it was all mundane. Location pings, search history... The same things every company tracked. So, Q had finally gone deeper, hacking into the company itself to see what their files looked like.
He hadn't heard from Gunner since that first night. That one text and simple warning to stay out of it. However, Q had doubled-down on security, just in case.
It took a while but eventually he could see just what was being stored- And that it was all in code. Some files were marked blue, with very little in them, however others were marked green and full of scrambled text. It would take time to crack whatever code was being used- But this was something. This was a start.
Leaning back in his seat, he sighed and took off his glasses, rubbing his face.
The phone on his desk buzzed, and Q went still, watching it for a moment before picking it up.
"Hello?" Q said, slipping his glasses back on.
"I don't know why I thought a warning would work, you were never any good at taking orders," Gunner said, his voice slightly compressed. Perhaps he was on a satellite phone? Certainly not calling from the UK, that much Q was sure of.
"You had to know I'd look into your company once I saw you in the paper," Q replied.
"You miss me so much, petal?" Gunner asked.
Q said nothing, letting the silence linger.
"Oh, sweet boy, chase me all you like. Just know if you get too close, it wont end well for you, my love."
The call ended, and Q put the phone down.
